The FIFA World Cup 2026 is here, and Charlotte's bars and breweries are going all-in on watch parties. From a "48 Nations Challenge" at Middle James to $5 pints at OMB, here are the best spots to catch every match — curated by a local who actually goes to these places.

June 25, 2026 · by Tracey De Simon

The 2026 FIFA World Cup runs June 11 through July 19, and even though Charlotte isn't a host city this year, the Queen City has turned into one of the best places in the Southeast to watch the tournament. Our brewery scene, neighborhood bars, and soccer culture have all stepped up — with creative watch party programs, special menus, early-morning openings for international kickoffs, and the kind of match-day energy that turns strangers into friends over a shared pint.

I put this list together based on what I've seen firsthand and what the Charlotte Observer reported. These are the spots I'd personally recommend — whether you're a lifelong soccer fan or just looking for a great summer night out in Charlotte.

01
The List

Top 8 watch party spots.

These are the venues that go the extra mile for the World Cup — creative promotions, match-day specials, early openings, and genuine soccer atmosphere.

#1
Must Visit 48 Nations Challenge

Middle James Brewing

Pineville & Waxhaw

Middle James is running one of the most creative watch party programs in the city. At their Pineville location, fans can pick a country to represent in the "48 Nations Challenge" — and if your team goes far enough, you score a limited-edition soccer tee that you can't buy anywhere else. They're also showing games at the Waxhaw taproom. It's the kind of local brewery energy that makes Charlotte special.

#2
Local Favorite $5 pints + USMNT matches

Olde Mecklenburg Brewery (OMB)

LoSo & Ballantyne

OMB is Charlotte's original craft brewery, and they're going all-in for the World Cup. Both the LoSo and Ballantyne locations are hosting watch parties for U.S. and Germany matches with $5 pints of Olde Meck or Hornets Nest on game days. The Ballantyne location is especially great if you're coming from the south side — easy parking and a solid biergarten vibe.

#3
Soccer Classic Charlotte's OG soccer bar

Dilworth Neighborhood Grille

Dilworth

DNG has been Charlotte's go-to soccer bar for years — long before the World Cup hype. If you want to watch a match surrounded by genuine soccer fans who know the difference between a false nine and a deep-lying playmaker, this is your spot. The Dilworth location puts you steps from the neighborhood's walkable dining scene along East Boulevard.

#4
Arts District Arts district energy

Jackalope Jack's

NoDa

Located in the heart of NoDa — Charlotte's arts district — Jackalope Jack's brings that creative, eclectic neighborhood energy to every watch party. Grab a seat, order something from one of the nearby restaurants, and soak up the pre-game atmosphere on North Davidson Street. This is one of those spots where you come for the match and stay for the neighborhood.

#5
Craft Beer Craft beer paradise

Salud Beer Shop

NoDa

Salud is a Charlotte institution for craft beer lovers. With one of the best beer selections in the city and a laid-back atmosphere in NoDa, it's the perfect spot to catch a match with a world-class pint in hand. Pair your game-watching with a walk through NoDa's mural-lined streets afterward.

#6
Big Screens Giant LED screens + international beers

Clutch Kitchen

South End

If you want the big-screen experience, Clutch Kitchen has massive LED displays and an international beer list to match the global scope of the tournament. Located in South End, you can grab brunch before the early kickoff and transition seamlessly into match-day mode.

#7
All Matches Every single match, plus early openings

Tyber Creek Pub

University City

Tyber Creek Pub is showing every single World Cup match — and they're opening early for the off-hours games that fall during typical morning hours. They're also running $8 Teremana Tequila specials during matches. If you're in University City, this is the spot that takes the tournament schedule seriously.

#8
Unique Vibe Viking-themed match day

Valhalla Pub & Eatery

South End

Valhalla brings a uniquely Viking-themed atmosphere to World Cup viewing — dark wood, big screens, and hearty food. It's in South End, so you can walk the Rail Trail before or after the game and take in one of Charlotte's most dynamic neighborhoods.

02

Pro Tips

Watch party essentials.

Check kickoff times

International matches span multiple time zones. Some games kick off early morning or mid-afternoon. Spots like Tyber Creek Pub are opening early — but always check the schedule before you head out.

Get there early

USMNT matches, Germany games, and knockout round matches draw the biggest crowds. Arrive 30–60 minutes early to grab a good seat — especially at outdoor spots like OMB's biergarten.

Plan the neighborhood around it

Don't just go for the match — make it a day. Hit a farmers market in NoDa, walk the Rail Trail in South End, or grab dinner along East Boulevard in Dilworth before kickoff at DNG.

Park smart

South End and NoDa parking fills up fast on game days. Consider ride-share, LYNX light rail, or parking in a nearby lot and walking. The Rail Trail makes South End venues very walkable from neighboring streets.

Look for match-day specials

OMB is doing $5 pints, Tyber Creek has $8 tequila specials, and Middle James is giving away limited-edition tees. Check each venue's social media for the latest match-day deals.

Pick your country & commit

The World Cup is more fun when you have a team. Many of these spots are running country-specific events and challenges. Pick your nation, rock the colors, and enjoy the ride — even if your team gets knocked out early.

From Tracey's Desk

Where I'll actually be this summer.

Tracey De Simon, Charlotte real estate agent and local expert
Tracey De Simon
Charlotte real estate agent & neighborhood enthusiast

"I've lived in Charlotte long enough to see this city's soccer culture grow from a handful of dedicated fans at a couple of bars to a full-blown city-wide phenomenon. The World Cup brings it all to the surface — and honestly, it's one of the best things about living here in the summer. These aren't just bars showing a game on a screen. These are communities gathering in neighborhoods I love, celebrating something global while supporting locally owned businesses. That's Charlotte."

OMB Ballantyne for a USMNT Watch Party

I live on the south side of Charlotte, so OMB Ballantyne is my go-to. There's something about watching the U.S. play with $5 pints in a biergarten full of people who care as much as you do. If you're new to Charlotte and want to feel the city's soccer community in real time, go to Ballantyne for a US match. You'll make friends.

A NoDa Bar Hop Between Matches

On a double-header day, my move is to start at Salud for the early game, walk over to Jackalope Jack's for the second match, and explore NoDa's murals and galleries in between. You can easily spend a full Saturday in NoDa during the World Cup and never get bored. This is the neighborhood where Charlotte's creative side really shines.

Middle James 48 Nations Challenge

I love that Middle James is doing something different with the 48 Nations Challenge. Pick your country, watch them play, and you might walk away with a limited-edition tee. It's smart, it's fun, and it's exactly the kind of community-building that makes Charlotte's brewery scene one of the best in the Southeast.

The Bigger Picture

Why this matters for Charlotte.

Charlotte may not be a host city for the 2026 World Cup, but watching how the city has rallied around the tournament tells you everything about what makes this place special. Our breweries aren't just showing games — they're creating events. Our neighborhoods aren't just places to sleep — they're destinations where people gather, eat, drink, and connect.

When I show clients around Charlotte — whether they're relocating from out of state or just moving across town — I always point out the neighborhood fabric. South End's Rail Trail connecting breweries and restaurants. NoDa's mural-lined streets and arts scene. Dilworth's century-old walkability. These are the places where community happens organically, and the World Cup watch parties are a perfect example of Charlotte doing what it does best: making global moments feel local.

The tournament runs through July 19. Every knockout round match, every semifinal, and the final will draw even bigger crowds. If you haven't picked a watch party spot yet, there's still plenty of time to find your people.
